At December’s HR Christmas Breakfast Club forum, Gabrielle Sullivan and Rachael Archer of BAL Lawyers Employment Law & Investigations Group conducted something a little bit different – our very own HR Family Feud.
We asked numerous questions throughout the session from ‘Name a common reaction from an employee who is being performance managed?’ to ‘What factors should an HR Manager consider before sacking an employee for posting something bad on Facebook?’.
In addition to a few laughs, this lead to further discussions, particularly around:
- 2019’s Banerji case in the High Court (listen to our latest podcast for more on this)
- the high income threshold in relation to unfair dismissal claims (which is $148,700 per annum from 01 July 2019), and the what is included in ‘earnings’ for that purpose (see s 332 of the Fair Work Act for more details)
We announced our winners of the ‘Find Belvedere’ competition. Coffee vouchers were handed out and the winner of the Christmas Hamper went to Heidi Campbell of Christian Schools Australia. Congratulations!
We hope that you all had a Wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year and thank you for you support over 2019.
Our next HR Breakfast Club will be held on Friday 17 January 2020. Rebecca Richardson will be presenting on the topic of ‘Covert Recordings in the Workplace’ and we look forward to seeing you then.
